SEASONAL SOLAR GAIN: Strategic shading devices over prominent openings in a building require no mechanical operation, but are effective means of harnessing the sun’s energy when desirable. During warm summer months, deep overhangs prevent solar heat gain, while in cold winter months, when the sun lays close to the horizon, its energy is able to reach the surface of the building and therefor heat it.
