LIVING ROOF: Establishing well-controlled, diverse ecosystems on roofs has recently become an enticing design strategy to increase a building’s ecological consciousness. Both the people occupying the spaces and the surrounding landscapes are benefiting from the reimagination of the typically-barren building as a part of the natural environment. Encouraged biodiversity through habitat creation, rainwater filtration, air purification, audio buffers, building cooling and general well-being are associated with the presence of vegetated surfaces on a building.
