17 – Site Considerations

SITE CONSIDERATIONS: The experience and ecological quality of a space extends well beyond the limits of a building. Careful understanding and development of a site not only improves the success of a building, but also can be used to inform a design so as to exist harmoniously with the natural landscape. Accommodating to a site’s topography, orientation and biota will minimize natural deterioration, present opportunities for unique design elements such as framed views and ultimately retain the existing ecology of a site.
